Traditional Medicine Harvesting Walk – The Battlefords
Join us for a two-day Traditional Medicine Harvesting Walk in the Battlefords, located at our shop - 1191 98th St North Battleford.
Dates: Saturday, August 1 & Sunday, August 2
Time: 9:00 AM – approximately 2:30 PM each day
Lunch will be provided on both days, along with a harvesting kit and bottled water.
Children under 13 years of age may attend free of charge; however, a lunch fee of $25 per child, per day applies.
Please bring:
- Hat
- Bug repellent
- Rain jacket
- Boots
- Folding chair
This event will proceed rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Day 1 – Traditional Plant Medicines
Participants will learn about approximately 18 traditional medicines, including:
- Plant identification
- Proper harvesting times
- Traditional and medicinal uses
- Preparation methods
- Proper storage techniques
Day 2 – Bear Grease Preparation
Participants will learn how to render bear fat into bear grease, along with its traditional uses, medicinal benefits, and applications.
